The Hockinson High School equestrian team earned two gold medals and finished as the high-point team for mid-size programs during the Washington High School Equestrian Teams state championships.
Tasha Grinde and Hope Miller took first place in the two-person birangle competition. Riley Bylsma won the gold medal for hunt seat, and teammate Nadine Miller took silver in that event, during the meet held May 17-19 at Moses Lake.
Grinde also won a bronze medal in both the figure-8 and the roping competitions.
Also earning bronze medals were Nadine Miller in working rancher, and the team sorting duo of Molly Beu and Tessa Landwehr.

State meet results from Prairie and Ridgefield high schools were published in the May 21 Community Scoreboard. No other local results were reported to The Columbian.
Lacrosse all-stars recognized
King’s Way lacrosse had two midfielders named to the all-state first team for the top division of the Washington High School Boys lacrosse Association.
Jack Beall, a senior at Camas High School, and Clayton Frank, a senior at Columbia River High School, were first-team selections.
Nick Guinett, a senior at Hockinson, was a second-team defender.
The season ended for The King’s Way on Thursday with a loss to Eastside Catholic of Sammamish in the state quarterfinals. The Knights finished with 10 wins and six losses.
In Division II, three Camas players and two from Union were selected to the all-conference team for the Central South Conference.
Representing Camas are sophomore attack Bradley Stanchfield, junior midfielder Bryce Tabbut and junior defender Casssius Johnson. Representing Union were sophomore defender Jack Lamey and sophomore goalkeeper Payton Summers.
The Camas and Union lacrosse programs played in Division II for the first time this season. The clubs are not affiliated with the athletic department at those schools.
