The American Red Cross is celebrating the unofficial start of summer — Memorial Day — with weekend blood drives.
To kick off the summer season, anyone who donates blood at Pacific Northwest donor centers through May 31 will be entered to win one of five $1,000 American Express gift cards.
The Red Cross is holding two blood drives in Vancouver this weekend. The events are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Clark County Donor Center, 5109 N.E. 82nd Ave.
Donors at the drives will receive a stadium seat cushion to use while watching summer sports and other activities.
To donate blood or platelets over the holiday weekend, visit American Red Cross or call 800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to make an appointment.
