Vancouver — The Port of Vancouver commission has postponed a workshop that had been scheduled for Tuesday on the environmental permitting process for a proposed crude oil facility at the port. The workshop, postponed due to a scheduling conflict, most likely will be held in June, the port said.
The environmental permitting workshop will be the second in a series tied directly to the port’s April 22 announcement of plans tenant Tesoro to construct and operate a crude oil facility at the port. Tesoro is proposing a joint venture with the logistics company Savage to bring North American crude oil to the port by rail for transfer to marine vessels for transport to refineries in California, Washington and Alaska.
The purpose of the workshops is to provide information to the commissioners as they prepare to consider a lease with the Tesoro-Savage joint venture. That decision is expected in July.
The port’s board of commissioners will hold its regular Tuesday meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Commission Room at the port’s administrative building, 3103 N.W. Lower River Road.
