Police have located the driver of a black Ford F-150 pickup who allegedly caused a three-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Interstate 5 southbound near La Center and fled the scene.
The driver, Borin So, 38, of Lynnwood told officers that although he stopped to assist with the collision, he was not involved in the collision and did not see what happened.
“We have evidence that was left at the scene that says otherwise,” said Trooper Will Finn, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol.
One of the F-150’s mirrors was left behind. So said he lost the mirror when he hit a pole at a gas station in Seattle, Finn said. A witness took a photo of the F-150, which reportedly has severe damage to the passenger side.
At 7:26 a.m. Monday, witnesses say a Ford F-150 traveling south in the center lane when it hit a black BMW, which was driving in the fast lane, Finn said. The F-150 then veered to the slow lane and crashed into a pickup towing a travel trailer. The pickup-trailer jackknifed, traveling across all lanes of the interstate before leaving the road and rolling onto the left shoulder, Finn said.
Wanda Rodenburg, 72, of Ripon, Calif., a passenger in the pickup hauling the travel trailer, was treated at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for minor injuries and released. The BMW, which was struck on the rear passenger side, made it safely to the shoulder, Finn said.
Tips came in from television viewers and residents of Lynnwood who recognized the truck.
Charges are pending an investigation by the State Patrol.
