The new finance director for Camas is a familiar face.
The city has hired Battle Ground’s Finance Director Cathy Huber Nickerson to replace Joan Durgin, who’s scheduled to retire from the city at the end of the month. Durgin spent 24 years as the city’s finance director.
A resident of Camas for 15 years, Nickerson will start her new job with the city on July 8. Nickerson has served as Battle Ground’s finance director for five years. Before that, she spent 20 years in the Clark County Treasurer’s Office.
“We were looking for a candidate who would respect the financial groundwork that’s already been laid and carry us forward into the future,” Mayor Scott Higgins said.
He said Nickerson would be successful in that role for the city.
The Camas City Council is expected to ratify Higgins’ appointment of Nickerson on June 3. Her starting salary will be $9,161 per month.
