The pit bull that bit a 3-year-old Hazel Dell girl will be euthanized at the end of the month. The dog’s owner, a woman from Ridgefield, turned the dog over to Clark County Animal Control and Protection, which put the dog on a 10-day quarantine.
Investigators are continuing to look for signs of rabies and interview witnesses about the incident involving the 5-year-old pit bull named Clyde, said animal control agency manager Paul Scarpelli. What he’s learned so far is that the dog owner and Clyde spent Saturday night at a friend’s house in Hazel Dell, 3705 N.E. 80th St.
On Sunday morning, the young girl, identified as Janessa Sutterfield, and her mother visited the homeowner. Sutterfield was bitten in the head by Clyde around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Sutterfield was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, successfully underwent surgery and was discharged from the hospital Monday.
