A Battle Ground man wrecked his newly purchased sports car in Oregon on Tuesday night, and then had to sit in the wreckage for an hour until downed power lines could be made safe.
Ethan Cross, 42, had just purchased his 1998 Chevrolet Corvette earlier in the day, according to Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies. According to a news release, he was driving too fast when he apparently accelerated and lost control, hitting a power pole.
The accident occurred just after 9 p.m. at the intersection of Southeast Bakers Ferry Road and Highway 224, near the town of Boring.
The power pole splintered and power lines fell near the Corvette. Cross, who was uninjured, had to wait in the wreckage of his new car for more than an hour before the power lines could be de-energized and it was safe for him to walk away.
