After Shonny Bria, superintendent of Battle Ground Public Schools, announced her retirement on April 29, the district appointed Duane Rose as liaison to the school board during the transition. In that capacity, Rose is being paid $10,000 per month for May and June, according to district officials.
On Monday, the district announced the appointment of Rose as interim superintendent and Lynn Hicks as interim deputy superintendent. The district is still negotiating contract salaries for Rose and Hicks.
Rose and Hicks will begin their positions July 1 for up to a year in a temporary capacity until a superintendent is hired to replace Bria, who is retiring June 30.
