Volcanoes bounce back with big victory

The Vancouver Volcanoes used a big second half to get back in the win column Saturday.

One night after having a six-game winning streak broken, Vancouver (7-2) beat the Lonestar Strikers 134-113 in International Basketball League action at Clark College.

Paul Hafford led an explosive offensive effort with 39 points, including 11 of 21 from 3-point range. Chehales Tapscott added 30 points and 17 rebounds, and Mike Scott added 29 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds. Josh Tarver had 10 points and 13 assists for the Volcanoes against the Strikers, who are based in the Houston area.

Coming off a loss to Salem, the Volcanoes trailed 33-27 after one quarter against Lonestar. After closing within 60-59 by halftime, they outscored the Strikers 75-53 over the final two periods.

George Williams led Lonestar with 29 points.
