Trevor Huddleston of Woodland baseball was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of May 6-11 in a vote by fans on Facebook.

Huddleston collected 45 percent of the 227 votes cast to beat out James Phillips of Prairie boys track and field, who had 22 percent.

Huddleston threw a complete game to beat previously unbeaten Montesano on Tuesday, clinching a berth to state, then threw six innings and struck out 10 on Saturday as Woodland won its first district baseball crown since 1985.

The other nominees were Columbia River golfer Chloe Bartek, Camas boys soccer player Nate Beasley, and Union girls track and field athlete Jessica Ojukwu.

Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s prep sports blog at www.360preps.com by Monday. Voting starts Monday and continues through 8 p.m. Thursday at www.facebook.com/360preps.
