The Camas-Washougal area is home to many fundraisers that aim to generate money and awareness for any number of worthy causes.
The annual Harold W. Busch Walkers dinner and auction event stands out among those for many reasons. The most impressive of which may be the consistent support it has received from the community and notably downtown Washougal’s Big Foot Inn. Thanks to owners Jerry and Berta Knott, the event dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease related causes has been held at their business for the past decade.
In honor of the Knotts’ unwavering contributions to this effort, and the greater community during the course of the past 25 years, the Big Foot Inn was recently named Business of the Year by the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce. The restaurant and bar joins Lone Wolf Development, owned by Wes Hickey, in receiving this honor this year. Lone Wolf has led a revitalization of downtown Washougal by making substantial capital investments and actively recruiting businesses to this area.
Citizen of the Year is local CPA and active volunteer Norm Paulson. His talents have left an imprint on many organizations, from the Washougal Schools Foundation and the Rotary Club to AFS International and music programs at local schools.
