What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

Believe it or not, Clark County baseball fans might take special interest in a four-game series that starts Saturday between the Las Vegas 51s and the Albuquerque Isotopes.
At some point during the Triple-A Pacific Coast League series, former Hudson’s Bay High School teammates Steve Ames and Greg Peavey could find themselves on the mound in the same game.
Ames is the primary closer for Albuquerque, a farm team of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has a 0.75 ERA and three saves in 11 appearances this season. Peavey is a middle reliever for Las Vegas, a farm team of the New York Mets. He has a 2-2 record and a 5.23 ERA in 14 appearances this season.
Both Ames and Peavey undoubtedly would prefer to battle someday on a major-league mound. But for now, having two Clark County products face off at the Triple-A level would be pretty cool.

As if he hadn’t already been the most entertaining facet of this year’s NBA playoffs (well, second, behind Stephen Curry), Nate Robinson outdid himself Friday. During the Chicago Bulls’ 104-94 loss in Game 3 against Miami, Robinson came from behind to block what would have been a clear layup for LeBron James.
If you’ve ever seen LeBron James, you know that he’s 6-foot-8 and can jump out of the gym and is as strong as Thor. And if you’ve seen Nate Robinson, you know that the 5-foot-9 he’s listed at is being, um, generous. Like about 2-3 inches worth of generosity.
The play wasn’t exactly a man-to-man battle (watch the highlight), but it was another example of Robinson’s leaping ability, which goes beyond legendary and into the realm of mythological.
Watching Robinson highlights could fill the better part of an afternoon, but for our money he still hasn’t topped one he had in college. Check it out on YouTube by clicking HERE or HERE.
