The housing market improved statewide in the first quarter of 2013, according to the Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Washington.
Existing home sales during this year’s first quarter increased 5.6 percent from the previous quarter and 14.7 percent from a year ago, reaching a seasonally adjusted annual sale rate of 88,440 homes. Clark County showed a 2.2 percent drop in home resales, making it one of 11 of the state’s 39 counties to show a decline for the quarter. Compared to a year ago, Clark County’s home resales were up 9.4 percent, the study found.
The report noted that Clark County issued 787 building permits in the year’s first quarter. That’s a 219 percent increase from a year ago, one of the largest increases of any county.
