The state Recreation and Conservation Office is looking for volunteers to evaluate grant applications to finance parks, trails and boat launches across Washington.

The department is seeking people to serve on one of eight advisory committees that will evaluate and rank grant requests in the spring and summer of 2014. Applications are due next month, and volunteers would serve four years.

The conservation office needs to fill nine spots on park-related programs, seven spots for trail programs, and two openings for boating programs.

People with expertise in project design or management, landscape architecture, planning or engineering, permitting or property acquisition are encouraged to apply, according to the conservation office.

Applicants should submit materials to the Recreation and Conservation Office by June 14. Online applications are available at http://rco.wa.gov/grants/vol_eval_cmte.shtml.
