Prep roundup: Bartek in command at district golf

Columbia River’s Chloe Bartek shot a 1-under-par 72 Monday at Lewis River for a nine-shot lead after the first day of the 3A district golf tournament.

Jamie Stilwell of Prairie had an 81, and Bridget Standard of Fort Vancouver shot 86.

In the 4A district tournament, Union’s Alicia Kwon had a five-stroke advantage after the first day, shooting an 83, also at Lewis River.

Elise Filuk of Camas and MacKenzie Alamillo of Battle Ground were tied for second with 88s.

The tournament concludes today.

Stars of the day

SOFTBALL: Harli Hubbard pitched a five-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Camas officially wrapped up the 4A Greater St. Helens League title.

SOFTBALL: Skyview’s Michelle Brincefield struck out nine in a four-hitter and was 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI in the Storm’s 8-2 win at Battle Ground.

SOFTBALL: Bri Cunningham was 2 for 3 with a double, triple and three RBI in Ridgefield’s 8-2 win over Washougal.

SOCCER: Nathaniel Cheney scored two goals and Pasha Hashemi had three saves in goal as Union shut out Skyview 3-0 in the 4A district playoffs.

Union advances to Wednesday’s championship game at Camas where the district top two seeds to bi-district will be determined.

Skyview will be the No. 3 seed to bi-district.

GIRLS TENNIS: Prairie’s Akari Baba won the 3A district singles title on Saturday to advance to bi-district. Baba defeated Kelso’s Lisa Karnofsky 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
