Two Vancouver teens suffered injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Monday that split the car in half.
A Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east on Mill Plain Boulevard when the driver lost control and hit a light pole, sending the teenage driver and her passenger to the hospital, Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.
“That impact actually split the vehicle in half,” Kapp said.
The driver, identified as Molly Mayo, 19, of Vancouver, was ejected and had life-threatening injuries. She was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition Monday evening. The passenger, Caylie Nelson, 19, of Vancouver was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. She was listed in satisfactory condition Monday evening.
The crash was reported at 1:41 a.m., and the intersection was closed until about 7:30 a.m. Speed is being considered a factor. Kapp said it is unknown if other factors contributed to the crash.
