• Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center has named Denise Fall to the top nursing post at the hospital. Fall had been interim nurse executive since March 2012. As nurse executive, she will provide nursing oversight and leadership for more than 500 nurses at the Salmon Creek medical facility and four provider-based clinics. Previously, Fall had served in nursing and leadership roles at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center since 1998.
• Derek Chisholmhas joined Otak Inc., an architecture and engineering firm, as a senior planner working out of offices in Portland and Vancouver. Chisholm’s background includes managing and participating in many city planning efforts that focused on historic preservation and transportation. Chisholm serves on the Washington State Historic Preservation Plan and the Historic Preservation League of Oregon. He also teaches a course at Washington State University and frequently leads studies and projects in China.
• Joan Caley has been appointed as a commissioner for the Vancouver Housing Authority by Mayor Tim Leavitt. Caley, a registered nurse, has lived in Vancouver since 1971. She is retired from a senior leadership position at the Portland VA Medical Center and is currently on the faculty at the University of Portland and Washington State University Vancouver, where she teaches community/population health and nursing leadership.
• Columbia Credit Union’s vice president of wealth management, Jill Kusmirek, has been named Investment Advisor of the Year for 2012 for the local region of Cetera Advisor Networks. She was chosen from a field of 50 investment advisor representatives. Kusmirek has 32 years of financial services experience and has been with Columbia for 12 years.
• Heritage Bank has hired Susan DeRenzo as vice president and wealth strategies advisor for Heritage Wealth Management. DeReno is a certified financial planner and has more than 13 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has a degree in business and is a 2009 graduate of Leadership Clark County.
• MacKay Sposito, a consultant in energy, public works and land development, has hired Armine Kalan as the proposal specialist on the business development team. She has a business degree in business administration from Portland State University. Kalan will work in the Vancouver office.
• Phil Hatzenbeuhler of BBL Architects has recently been named to Engineering News-Record’s Top 20 Under 40 list for 2013 in the Northwest region, Alaska, Oregon and Washington. The annual competition celebrates the excellence of young design and construction professionals throughout the country. An independent jury selected Hatzenbeuhler from a field of candidates featured in a special March 4 Northwest edition of ENR. Phil has been with BBL Architects, 400 Columbia St., Suite 150, since June 2005.

• Dick Hannah Subaru has received Subaru of America’s Subaru Eco-Friendly Dealer Award. The dealership met requirements in five areas of conservation to win the award: energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, waste management and community involvement.
New business
• Kelly’s Performing Arts Daycare, a new music-based childcare business, will have three open houses, noon to 4 p.m. May 11, 18 and 25 at 4100 N.E. 117th St., to celebrate opening for business.
