A new state law effective this week offers to make employee training more affordable for Washington’s small businesses.
A modification to the Jobs Skills Program, a state-funded program for job-specific, short-term training, the law removes the dollar-for-dollar match requirement for small businesses making less than $500,000 in annual gross business income. Now, those employers are only required to pay the employee’s usual salary and benefits during training.
Conducted by the state’s two-year colleges, the Job Skills Program offers customized employee training to boost productivity and innovation for small businesses and provide employees a chance to learn valuable new skills.
