The Camas boys soccer team’s season-long rally is complete.
The Papermakers, who lost twice in the first round of league play including the first match, ran the table in the second round and claimed the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League boys soccer title in their first season at the 4A level.
Cameron Eyman scored a second-half goal, and Connor Heredia and Sharif Batroukh combined for six saves for the shutout Thursday night as Camas stopped Union 1-0.
“Typical Union-Camas soccer match. Very hard fought,” Union coach Kelcey Burris said. “They finished their opportunity. Congratulations to them. They got the result.
“My kids competed and played hard but came out on the short end of the result.”
Camas finished the regular season 8-2, good enough for 24 points. Union ended up 7-1-2 for 23 points, while defending state champion Skyview took third at 7-2-1 for 22 points.
Skyview will face fourth-place Evergreen in an elimination district playoff match Saturday. The winner of that match will play Union on Monday, with that winner taking on Camas for the district title.
The final three teams will advance to the bi-district tournament.
