After a chilly start, Wednesday turned out very pleasant with highs around 70 degrees and a light northwest breeze. We begin to warm up into the 70s today and Friday, and over the weekend we’ll enjoy highs in the 80- to 85-degree range.
Computer models indicate we could be warmer as east winds pick up, but other models hold highs in the 80s. Regardless, we will definitely see our first 80-degree day.
Wednesday morning, frost was pretty widespread around the county. The majority of us had lows in the 30s, with a couple of reports at 29 degrees.
I was looking at the April statistics for Western Washington, and boy, what a contrast between Clark County and the northern half of the state. Vancouver had only 2.20 inches of rain, 0.81 of an inch below average. Our average mean temperature was 51.6 degrees, about a half-degree below average. Vancouver reported its lowest January-through-April rainfall since 1890 with 8.34 inches, or 52 percent of normal.
