Registration is open for auditions for this year’s Sing Fourth Teen Vocal Competition on July 4. Auditions will be held for the first 45 Clark County high school students who contact the Fort Vancouver National Trust at 360-992-1804 or events@fortvan.org.

Auditions begin at 1:30 p.m, Saturday, May 18. Information, including the registration form, is at Independence Day at Fort Vancouver.

Judges will select 10 finalists to compete on July 4 on the Vancouver Toyota main stage at the Fort Vancouver National Site. The competition begins at noon.

It is open to residents of Clark County who have been enrolled in public school or private school or home-schooled during the 2012-2013 academic year, including high school graduates from the class of 2013.

Contestants must bring a karaoke-style CD of their musical accompaniment to the audition. Songs must be three minutes or shorter; the disc must be playable on a standard CD player.

Finalists will be expected to perform the same number in front of a panel of celebrity judges on July 4. They will be judged on originality, skill, poise, likely audience appeal and family-friendly content.

The winner will receive a $1,000 college scholarship. Second place earns a $500 scholarship, and third place earns a $250 scholarship.
