Clark athletics report 3/26

BASEBALL

Record: 7-9 overall.

Last week: Swept by Linn-Benton 6-2, 6-1 on Friday; swept at Chemeketa on Monday 10-7 and 8-2.

This week: NWAACC West Division play opens on Friday with the Penguins visiting No. 2-ranked Lower Columbia in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The teams meet again at Kindsfather Field at 1 p.m. Saturday.

SOFTBALL

Record: 1-3 overall.

Last week: Opened season with the West Inter-Region crossover at Centralia. Clark beat South Puget Sound 11-0, lost to Bellevue 11-3, lost to Skagit Valley 14-12 and lost to Centralia 15-7. In the four games, Camas grad Sarah Nidick was 10 for 15 with three home runs and seven RBI. Prairie grad Chelsea Creech was 7 for 15 with two homers, a triple and five RBI. Ridgefield grad Karlee Kammer and Prairie grad Kat Vela also had home runs.

This week: Clark faces Pierce at 1 p.m. Tuesday at home; hosts Lower Columbia at 3 p.m. April. 2 in the NWAACC South Region opener.

TRACK AND FIELD

Last week: Spencer Blanks placed sixth in the high jump at the Oregon Preview meet in Eugene, clearing 6 feet, 3 1/2 inches. James Hunter was 12th in the 110-meter hurdles (15.84 seconds).

This week: The Mt. Hood multi-events meet is Friday and Saturday in Gresham, Ore.
