A cool air mass over the area this morning is causing the National Weather Service warn of the possibility of snow at levels of 1,000 feet this morning in Southwest Washington.

The weather service issued a short-term forecast just after 8 a.m. today, which reads that due to freezing temperatures, some precipitation at lower elevations may mix or briefly turn to snow at 500 feet or lower. However, little snow accumulation is expected below 1,000 feet.

There is reportedly an inch of snow on the ground in the Washougal area.

Today’s forecast shows a 40 percent chance of showers, mostly cloudy, with a high temperatures of 49 degrees and low temperatures of 32 degrees.
