Prep athlete of the week: Dakota Clevidence, Heritage baseball

Dakota Clevidence of the Heritage baseball team was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of March 8-16 in a vote by fans on Facebook.

Clevidence collected 40 percent of the 308 votes cast to beat out Camas track and field star Alexa Efraimson, who had 34 percent.

Clevidence hit three home runs and drove in nine runs in the first game of the season. He ended up with 10 hits and 13 RBI in four games. Heritage already has more wins this year than last season.

The other nominees were Columbia River golfer Chloe Bartek, Skyview tennis player Sammi Hampton, Woodland softball player Makayla Lefever, Ridgefield track and field athlete Alex Olson and Seton Catholic soccer player Erik Powell.

Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s prep sports blog at www.360preps.com by Monday. Voting starts Monday and continues through 8 p.m. Thursday at www.facebook.com/360preps .
