The Clark-Vancouver Drug Task Force arrested two wanted men Tuesday evening near the WinCo Foods on Northeast 136th Avenue in east Vancouver.
Around 4:15 p.m., officers spotted a dark blue BMW they believe is connected with a prior drug case, said Cmdr. Mike Cooke. While watching the car to see if the suspect was in the vehicle, they followed it to a house in Orchards. About half an hour later, the suspect came out of the house and got into a black pickup with another man. They were believed to be armed and dangerous, Cooke said.
Officers began to follow the pickup. As they discussed how to apprehend the two men, the suspects realized they were being followed, Cooke said, accelerated and struck a vehicle at the intersection of Northeast Ninth Street and Northeast 136th Avenue in front of WinCo. Both men jumped out of the moving vehicle, one fleeing into an open field and the other running east into the WinCo parking lot. A police dog chased down the man in the field and bit him. The other was apprehended in front of the grocery story.
Both men were arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on outstanding arrest warrants. Their names, ages and residences were not released Tuesday night. Cooke said additional weapons and drug charges will be filed. The Drug Task Force will execute a search warrant on the pickup, he said.
