Officials are searching for a serial arsonist who is targeting portable toilets in Camas and, to catch the culprit, authorities are offering a reward for the public’s help.
Five portable toilets that were in public parks have been destroyed by overnight fires since March 5, according to a bulletin issued by Camas police. The initial investigation has clearly shown these cases to be related and a direct result of arson, the bulletin states.
The Arson Alarm Foundation and Washington Insurance Council are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Sgt. Scot Boyles said that the city of Camas rents the porta-potties and is responsible for any damage to the units, which cost about $1,000 each to replace.
