Washington State University Vancouver will launch a bachelor’s degree program in hospitality business management this fall, thanks in part to a $675,000 gift from the Tod and Maxine McClaskey Foundation, the university said.

WSUV’s College of Business got approval to offer the degree seven years ago. But the recession reduced demand for hospitality-industry employment, and the degree program was put on hold. Now, the economic recovery has relaunched the program.

The gift from the McClaskey Foundation will provide a five-year faculty fellowship. The gift will support the salary and benefits of a hospitality-management faculty member while the program gets established. Tod McClaskey was a Clark County entrepreneur.
