Construction work at an Interstate 205 interchange in Portland will cause delays on a nearby bicycle and pedestrian path. Weekday impacts are expected to continue through mid-June, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
While crews upgrade the interchange at I-205 and Northeast Airport Way, flaggers will stop path users for up to 20 minutes at a time Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to ODOT. The closures are intended to keep cyclists and pedestrians out of harm’s way while large cranes and other heavy equipment are used next to the path.
The delays affect people using the portion of the path that crosses the Glenn Jackson Bridge between Vancouver and Portland. It will also affect the north-south portion of the path between Marine Drive and the pedestrian bridge over Airport Way.
The two-year interchange project is expected to be finished by late 2014.
