A Camas man was injured when he crashed his motorcycle into the rear of a VW Vanagon on Friday afternoon on state Highway 14.

At 3:43 p.m., Byron Liske, 77, was riding his 2004 Harley Davidson FLTRI motorcycle east near the exit to Southeast 164th Avenue when he failed to notice that cars had slowed for backed-up traffic, according to the Washington State Patrol. His motorcycle hit the back of the Vanagon, driven by Damon R. Butler, 44, of Portland, and Liske ended up on the road under his motorcycle.

Liske was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Butler was not injured.

The accident backed up traffic to the Interstate 205 exit and clogged onramps to Highway 14 for about an hour.

Inattention caused the collision, the State Patrol said. Liske was cited for following too closely.
