Parade of Bands registration opens

The 49th annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands will encourage all kinds of superheroes to participate on May 18. In addition to announcing the theme, the sponsoring Hazel Dell/Salmon Creek Business Association has also named retired Vancouver School District educator Jim Sork as this year’s grand marshal.

Registration for the parade is now open to all commercial and noncommercial floats, horse groups, classic cars and specialty vehicles, political groups, marching bands, dance ensembles and other novelty groups.

The application packet can be found at the business association’s website, http://hdscba.org/documents, and at Fire District 6 Headquarters, 8800 N.E. Hazel Dell Ave.; Clark County Sheriff’s West Precinct, 505 N.W. 179th St., Ridgefield; Riverview Community Bank’s Hazel Dell and Salmon Creek locations; all Smokey’s Pizza locations;, and West Coast Bank, 12205 N.E. Highway 99. Registration fees are $5 to $100, depending on entry type.
