What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:
1
Stop the madness.
Please, NFL reporters, please stop citing unnamed sources for contract information.
Earlier, we heard what a great guy Tom Brady is for taking less money so his team could spend it elsewhere. Later we learned, no, he really did not take less money. In fact, he guaranteed himself a lot more money.
Remember, it’s the guaranteed money that really matters in the NFL, not the length of the contract or the number behind the $ sign.
We say that because Fox Sports has a source claiming that Joe Flacco is about to sign a 6-year, $120 million contract with the Ravens. Well, he might sign it, but do any of us really believe it’s for six years and $120 million?
Nope. Our guess, in a day or two, we’ll find out the guaranteed money is around $40-$60 million. Not a bad gig if you can get it but not $120 million, either.

Here’s the scoop: Production of snowboarder Hannah Teter’s featured ice cream flavor has been frozen for the moment.
Don’t worry just yet, though, “Maple Blondie” could very well be back in stores before the 2014 Sochi Games.
The Ben & Jerry’s flavor named after the two-time Olympic medalist is simply on a break.
Teter the snowboarder is not on a break. She is working on some innovative tricks, which she will unveil at the U.S. Open snowboarding championships today in Vail, Colo.

Just because you are the No. 1 tennis player in the world and have had millions of fans take YOUR picture while playing, doesn’t mean you can take pictures of Tiger Woods playing golf on the PGA Tour.
Serena Williams learned this the hard way on Friday, getting scolded by tournament security at the Honda Classic for snapping a picture of Tiger after a tee shot. (The PGA Tour does not allow photos on competition days.)
Explaining herself, Williams tweeted (@serenawilliams): “Apparently u can’t take pictures of golfers. In my Defense peeps always take pics of tennis players.”
