Twelve people have fallen victim to a woman who allegedly steals from elderly people in Vancouver in a door-to-door fashion.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said that the most recent incident of theft occurred Thursday night in the 3900 block of East Fourth Plain Boulevard.

An elderly person opened their door to a young woman who asked for some change. When she got her purse, the young woman took the wallet and ran, Kapp said.

The alleged thief had a similar description to a woman who has been using a similar ploy to steal from elderly Vancouver residents. Kapp said the woman appears to be trying the scheme every three or four days.

She is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, with a thin build and shoulder-length brown hair.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Officer Jeff Miller on the tip line at 360-487-7399 or by email at jeff.miller@cityofvancouver.us.
