Summer chinook angling comes to a close beginning Monday and the emphasis shifts to summer steelhead for the next five weeks or so until fall chinook start building.
State biologists said on Wednesday the summer chinook and sockeye runs appear to be tracking less than forecast based on Bonneville Dam counts and the sport catch rate.
The chinook run was initially predicted to be 73,500 and 180,350 sockeye.
Kokanee fishing remains good in Yale Reservoir.
Walleye are beginning to be caught in the Troutdale area and fishing will get better when flow in the Columbia River drops. A good catch of walleye also was reported between Vancouver and the Lewis River.
Shad counts at Bonneville Dam and catch rates in the river are dropping.
