A ‘Milktacular’ victory for Hazel Dell father and son

Hazel Dell — “Milktacular” propelled a father and son to first place at the annual Dairy Farmers of Oregon Milk Carton Boat Race held June 9 at Westmoreland Park in Portland. Josiah Winiecki and his dad Adam, from Hazel Dell, were winners in both the adult and child “Mechanical Advantage” categories of the annual competition. They individually raced in their homemade pedal boat, “Milktacular,” made — like all other vessels in the races — from milk cartons and jugs. There were 49 milk-themed boats in the race. The National Dairy Council promotes June as “Dairy Month.”
