A reported weapons disturbance in the Rose Village area that commanded a lot of police resources Monday afternoon turned out to involve no crime, no injuries and no real gun.
At 2:47 p.m. Vancouver police were dispatched to 3506 P St. where callers said a man was running down the street with a rifle and people were screaming, said Officer Ilia Botvinnik.
Police converged on the area, blocking off a few streets in the neighborhood to investigate. Police used a loud speaker to call for everyone to exit the house on P Street with their hands up. About six people exited the house and sat on a nearby lawn while they were questioned by officers. An airsoft gun was later recovered in the area.
“It was a big nothing,” Botvinnik said.
There was an altercation between some individuals, but no one was hurt and no real weapons were involved, he said.
