What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:
1
American shot putter Adam Nelson is going to have a gold medal ceremony Sunday night at the U.S. Track and Field Championships.
From the 2004 Olympics!
The dude who won was caught cheating. Last month!
Actually, we doubt the guy was cheating last month.
It’s just that samples taken in 2004 were re-tested, and those tests detected steroids.
So congrats to Adam Nelson.
He finished second nine years ago, or so we thought.

Maria Sharapova went on the attack, and she wasn’t on the tennis court.
Sharapova advised Serena Williams to stay out of other people’s personal lives. Then she went further. She said it is OK if Serena wants to talk about Serena’s personal life.
“Maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids,” Sharapova said.
Whoa.
This is in response to Serena Williams’ interview with Rolling Stone. In the article, Williams spoke poorly of a certain top-five player. (Everyone, including the writer of the article, figures the top-five player Williams is referring to is Sharapova.)
Anyway, here is hoping the two meet in Wimbledon.
Our money’s on Serena. Not the tennis match — the fight.

A lot has been made about the Heat becoming just the fifth franchise to win back-to-back NBA titles since the 1980s.
Good for them, but it is easier to repeat in the NBA.
In the past 34 seasons, only nine franchises have won NBA titles. There should be a lot of back-to-backs with those numbers.
By comparison, the NFL has had 15 franchises win Super Bowl titles in the past 34 seasons and baseball has had 20 franchises win the past 34 World Series.
