Three fewer licensed fireworks stands will operate in Clark County this year compared to last year, part of a statewide downward trend, according to a report issued Tuesday by the Office of the Washington State Fire Marshal.
Clark County’s 90 licensed fireworks stands dropped just slightly from 93 stands in 2012. Statewide, 877 stands have been licensed in all 39 counties in 2013, down 3.2 percent from 906 licensed stands in 2012. A state license is required before a city or county can issue a permit to operate a fireworks stand in Washington.
Sales of consumer fireworks statewide will begin at noon June 28 and end at 11 p.m. July 5. However, within Vancouver’s city limits, fireworks sales and the legal use of fireworks end a full day earlier at midnight July 4. Fireworks consumers should check for various regulations in their own jurisdictions, according to the fire marshal’s office, which is responsible for providing fire and safety services to citizens through inspections, plan reviews and licensing.
