A 17-year-old boy was injured when his bicycle collided with a motorist Sunday evening in the East Minnehaha neighborhood.

The boy was taken by American Medical Response to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. His name was not released.

Clark County sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Barnes said the boy was riding his bike about 6:15 p.m. in Tower Crest Neighborhood Park, 54th Street and 63rd Avenue. He said the boy was coming out of a wooded area and darted onto 54th Street.

Barnes said a 19-year-old woman driving a compact car was unable to stop to avoid the collision. She was not cited.

“He’ll probably need stitches,” Barnes said. “He wasn’t wearing a helmet.”
