You can enjoy a local brew while cheering runners or take in the sports and fitness expo. It’s all in celebration of the Vancouver USA Marathon. Active Sports and Fitness Expo, offered today, will feature demonstrations, a casual 5K run, a kids marathon and Freedom 5K and presentations by Bart Yasso, author of “My Life on the Run: The Wit, Wisdom, and Insights of a Road Racing Icon.”

The Summer Brewfest will run both today and Sunday, with live music and food, paired with 20 regional craft breweries showcasing their seasonal brews.

The Vancouver USA Half Marathon and Marathon will take off Sunday morning, flooding downtown with runners and fans. Both races will be followed by an after-party in the park.

When: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission: Brewfest tasting tokens are $5 to $25. The Freedom 5K is $37 to $45, and the kids marathon is $20 to $25.

2. Discover your summer

Vancouver Summer Adventure is a kick-off event that will showcase a variety of low- to no-cost resources for healthy summer fun for families. The event will include appearances by Smokey Bear and the library’s Sophie the Otter.

3. Victorian adventure

The Magenta Theater Company takes its audience “Around the World in 80 Days.”Phileas Fogg races around the world by train, ship and even by elephant to prove that it can be done, but a persistent detective seems intent on derailing his journey.

4. Bed and frog races

Woodland showcases its fun and cultural side during the annual Planters Days celebration. The community-focused festival starts with a pancake breakfast followed by the Planters Day Grand Parade at 11 a.m. The Fireman’s Barbecue is at noon, followed by the 46th annual frog jump, the annual bed races at 4 p.m., and ending with a car cruise-in and performance by the Catillacs at 7 p.m. The market, carnival and car show will run all day Sunday.

When: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

5. Superman returns to the silver screen

Raised in Smallville by his adoptive Earth parents (Kevin Costner and Diane Lane), Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) sets out to discover who he is, hiding occasional flashes of his inhuman powers. Everything changes when reporter Lois Lane (Amy Adams) discovers Clark’s secret and the arrival of militaristic General Zod (Michael Shannon), a Kryptonian survivor, is set on the annihilation of mankind. “Man of Steel” is rated PG-13.
