A Vancouver family law attorney has been appointed to fill a commissioner’s position in Clark County Superior Court that had been vacant since September 2008, due to the county’s budget shortfall.

Jennifer Snider will handle largely juvenile and family law cases, said Superior Court Judge Barbara Johnson.

Her investiture ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. Aug. 2 in the Clark County Courthouse, 1200 Franklin St. She begins her duties on Aug. 5.

The county’s 10 Superior Court judges selected Snider out of a pool of 16 applicants, Johnson said.

The position Snider is filling became vacant in September 2008 when Commission Scott Collier became a Superior Court judge, Johnson said.

Snider was admitted to the Washington Bar Association in 1996, according to the bar association’s website.
