The search continues for a naked Vancouver woman who left her campground in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest Sunday afternoon and did not return.

Twelve teams scoured about three square miles of dense timber and brush Tuesday on all-terrain vehicles in search of 19-year-old Maureen Kelly. She left the Canyon Creek Campground around 5 p.m. Saturday on a “spiritual quest” wearing only a fanny pack that contained a compass and a knife.

With drizzle and nighttime temperatures in the mid-40s, Kelly must be getting cold, said Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox.

“My heart goes out to her family because I wish there was more we could be doing,” he said.

Deputies suspended the search at 8 p.m. Tuesday, but will resume searching the area at the end of the week.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who was in the area of Canyon Creek and Forest Service Road 54 from early Sunday afternoon onward to call 509-427-9490.
