With an impending fire season, emergency personnel is asking residents to be proactive in defending their property from wild fires.

The Washington Southwest Region Incident Management Team, made up of 33 members from 14 jurisdictions, met in Fern Prairie today to prepare for wildfires, which are expected to be very active this year.

There will be no live fire, but the team staged at the East County Fire and Rescue Station 91 to work on a wild fire scenario in the area surrounding the Springbrook Village housing development in east Clark County.

Citizens are encouraged to contact their local fire agency for preparation tips and more information.
