A hiccup in paving work on state Highway 14 led crews to reduce the speed limit on the roadway today near Camas, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The speed limit on the West Camas Slough Bridge will be reduced from 55 mph to 35 mph today, according to WSDOT.

Workers were in the process of paving the bridge early this morning when a plant providing the hot-mix asphalt broke down, according to the transportation department. The agency is working to replace the asphalt plant and pave the bridge as soon as possible. But until then, drivers will travel a short distance on a fabric moisture barrier without the same traction as a normal road surface, according to WSDOT.

WSDOT expects to have the bridge paved in time for the Friday morning commute.
