Project Clean Slate aims to help those with criminal records wipe the slate clean and open opportunities for employment, education and housing — and the service could be coming to Vancouver.

Vancouver Housing Authority will host a presentation at 7 p.m. Monday in its community room, 2500 Main St., to determine if there’s interest in starting a local project. The presentation is free, but people are encouraged to register for the event by calling Bridgette Fahnbulleh at 360-993-9556.

Project Clean Slate helps those with criminal history clear up minor criminal and civil matters while emphasizing personal and community responsibility. The state of Oregon, Multnomah District Attorney and the city of Portland endorse the project, as it allows them to clear cases and delinquent fines and penalties. Over the last eight years, Project Clean Slate has served more than 8,000 people.

For information on Project Clean Slate, visit http://www.projectcleanslate.com or call Fahnbulleh or Steve Towell at 360-993-9563.
