Another perfect summer day Wednesday with plenty of sunshine and highs in the low 80s, almost picture-perfect. Not much change through the weekend, with varying amounts of morning low clouds and highs generally 75 to 80 degrees, depending on how soon clouds, if any, burn off.
Next week, as mentioned here earlier, may see some clouds and cooler damp weather as we head into Father’s Day weekend. That is still a ways off, but next week will not be a repeat of this week.
I refer to our weather as summer because for us weather and climate folks, June is the first month of summer. The rest of you wait for the summer solstice on June 20 at 10:04 p.m.
The first Atlantic tropical storm appeared in the Gulf of Mexico this week, Andrea, with winds of only 40 mph but enough to get everyone’s attention. Hopefully the hurricane season will not be as severe as spring-summer tornado season.

I must mention how much I enjoy this weather! Tuesday night at midnight in Vancouver it was still 70 degrees, really summerlike. The overnight low barely got out of the 60s Wednesday morning, dipping only briefly to 58 degrees.
Another thing, even with the afternoon temperatures in the low 80s, there was a very nice northerly wind. That frames in the picture-perfect aspect of Wednesday’s weather. If only Norman Rockwell were around to paint it.
Just for fun: An old weather saying goes like this: “Easterly winds from May 19 to the 21 indicate a dry summer.” Looking back during those days, we had just the opposite, westerly winds. I haven’t read anything about westerly winds predicting the summer weather. Guess we will find out.
