HOUSTON (AP) — Houston running back Charles Sims says he is leaving the Cougars, but is undecided about whether he’ll transfer to another school or enter the NFL supplemental draft.
In an interview with KRIV-TV (http://bit.ly/15FdcMl) of Houston, Sims said he has been released him from his scholarship, though he is barred from transferring to another American Athletic Conference school, any school on the Cougars’ 2013 schedule or any Division I schools in Texas.
Because Sims has already received his degree in health education, he can transfer to another FBS program and play this season.
The NFL supplemental draft is July 11.
Sims, who went through spring practice with the Cougars, rushed for 851 yards and 11 touchdowns in 142 carries last season and caught 37 passes for 373 yards.
