Local players selected in baseballl first-year player draft since 2008

2012

  • Clint Coulter, Union, first-round pick of Milwaukee Brewers, 27th overall. Currently batting .207 for Wisconsin of the Single-A Midwest League.
  • Taylor Ard, Prairie, 7th round, Seattle Mariners, 221st overall, out of Washington State. Currently batting .235 for Clinton of the Single-A Midwest League. Drafted previously in 2011 and 2010.
  • Austin Barr, Camas, 29th round, New York Mets, 890th overall. Just completed freshman season at Stanford University.

2011

  • Jeff Ames, Skyview, supplemental first-round pick, Tampa Bay Rays, 42nd overall, out of Lower Columbia College. Currently 5-1 with 2.75 ERA for Bowling Green of the Single-A Midwest League. Drafted previously in 2010 and 2009.
  • Kody Watts, Skyview, 15th round, Pittsburgh Pirates, 452nd overall. Just completed sophomore season at University of Portland.
  • Michael Blake, Heritage, 16th round, Arizona Diamondbacks, 484th overall, out of University of Hawaii. Pitched in 2011 and 2012 in Diamondbacks organization; has not played this year.
  • Caleb Whalen, Union, 42nd round, Milwaukee Brewers, 1,271st overall. Just completed sophomore season at University of Portland.

2010

  • Greg Peavey, Hudson’s Bay, 6th round, New York Mets, 182nd overall, out of Oregon State. Currently 3-2 with 5.91 ERA for Las Vegas of the PCL. Drafted previously in 2009 and 2007.

2009

  • Kyrell Hudson, Evergreen, third round, Philadelphia Phillies, 106th overall. Currently batting .204 for Clearwater of Single-A Florida League.
  • Tyson Van Winkle, Hudson’s Bay, 10th round, Arizona Diamondbacks, 306th overall, out of Gonzaga University. Was in Diamondbacks’ organization last year; has not played this season. Drafted previously in 2008.
  • Steve Ames, Hudson’s Bay, 17th round, Los Angeles Dodgers, 517th overall. Currently has five saves and 4.35 ERA for Albuquerque of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.

2008

  • Brooks Lindsley, Mountain View, 18th round, San Francisco Giants, 537th overall, out of Lower Columbia College. Played two seasons in Giants organization.
