The Vancouver USA Marathon and half-marathon will necessitate road closures, detours and delays on Sunday, June 16.

The race starts and ends on Columbia Street in downtown, between Sixth and Eighth streets. The final stretch for racers will be on Eighth Street, from Broadway to Esther Short Park. That area will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In uptown Vancouver, Main Street and C Street from McLoughlin to 25th Street will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Three flaggers will control traffic at the intersection of Fourth Plain and Mill Plain boulevards from 7 a.m. to noon, and flaggers will also be working near Frenchman’s Bar, Officers Row and the Grand Central Fred Meyer.

There will also be traffic flaggers on Saturday, June 15, for the Freedom 5K. That race starts and ends in Esther Short Park, and runners loop through the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site.
