Camas — The Camas-Washougal Fire Department held its annual rescue training this month at a popular, but potentially perilous, swimming spot in north Camas. Pothole Falls, often referred to as the Potholes, on hot days draws many people who dive from the cliffs along Lacamas Creek. Fire Chief Nick Swinhart said his department often gets calls for rescue from the Potholes when weather gets warmer, but “luckily not so far this year.” During three days of training, nearly 36 rescuers practiced rope rescues and other evacuation techniques.
