The summer weather is scooting right along with fairly easy forecasts. A lazy summer now enters a pesky upper-level low that decides to park itself off the coast this week.
So, with the low forecast to influence our weather and a moist southwest flow of air, will we get any rain?
Well, I sent my crystal ball out for polishing and my dart board was borrowed by my grandkids. That leaves me under the clouds with the rest of you.
OK, just kidding. However, looking at computer guidance Monday afternoon, I don’t think technology has a good grip on it either. So we display the old “Chance of Showers” on the reader board.
Like an old B movie, the plot is the same but the ending may not always be what it seems. I borrowed an artist’s wide brush and forecast a chance of rain or showers toward the end of the week. In other words, I’m not buying a ticket for this show.
But hey, July will go down in the record books as a no-rainer. It doesn’t happen every year but not uncommon to enjoy July totally rain-free. The last measurable rainfall in Vancouver was on June 26 with .11 of an inch. Our dry spell enters its 34th day and tomorrow will be 35. Beyond that who wants to take bets?
At least we have cooled down, especially east of the mountains, where those 100-degree days are history although highs in the 90s will appear today.
We will be back over the 80-degree mark locally but still remain close to seasonal averages.
